Michael's first time at camp!

Boy was that an experience yesterday, lol. When take Michael to camp, NOBODY was even there yet. I have no clue why, but we got there right around 2pm and we were #13. Check in was at 2pm. So we register him and go to where he sleeps. We go to meet his counselor. But when we went in, he just says hi to Michael and that was it. So another counselor tells him to go pick out a bed. He picks out a bed and these 2 kids come in to get a bed in the room. We are telling Michael to introduce himself because he is still acting shy. Finally he does, Milos and Lazar (very Serbian names). They are 10 and as Michael goes to walk out, they start speaking Serbian, lol. They were waiting for their other friend to come too so he would be in that room. So Michael will be in a room with 3 boys that already know each other and they speak Serbian. I hope they talk to him! So then we are standing there and standing there and there is nobody around. It is now 3pm. Michael kept hanging around us and I kept telling him we weren't going to be there so he needed to go find friends. I didn't even see our priest that is suppose to be there. So finally, a little after 3pm, I told MIchael to ask his counselor what he was suppose to be doing and he said "just hang out for a while and dinner is at 6pm." Well I didn't want to hang out and do NOTHING until 6pm, so I told him we were going to leave so he could go find some friends. I just really didn't feel comfortable because it was like I was leaving him in the middle of nowhere by himself because nobody cared where he was or what he was doing!!! I mean, he isn't a teenager. I told him to stay around the camp and to not do anything stupid. I told him to stay away from the lake too because I noticed a few kids over there. If they fell in, nobody would have known. I mean, MIchael knows how to swim, but still. So I don't know what they do on a daily basis, but that was not very organized and did not really make me feel safe I can tell you that. He basically had 3 hours to do what he wanted to with nobody watching him or knowing where he was at??? I said next time, maybe we will show up at 5pm so he doesn't have 3 hours until dinner, lol. I haven't got a phone call yet, knock on wood, so he must be ok.

Geeze, I would have felt the same as you. Very nervous to leave him with out any seemly adult supervison.

Glad all went well for him though and he ended up having a really great time!
