I am in a bit of a dilema. I took Luka to the Dr today. I guess that he isn't gaining enough weight. He is 23 and 3/4 inches long and weighs 10lbs 8oz and he should weigh like 12lbs 3oz. They want me to breast feed and then try a bottle and go back in a month to see if that works. I tried to tell them that would not work, but they didn't listen. Luka can't do formula, he pukes. Plus, he refuses to drink it. I tried to tell them that I KNOW I have enough milk, but they don't want to hear it. I won't get in to the graphics on how I know, but trust me. Now, I was only feeding him on one side, so I will do 2. Funny thing is, he doesn't act starved. And not to mention, if he decides that he likes formula better, we are screwed. I could NEVER afford formula. I would never do anything to hurt him, but why can't they listen to me. I guess I can feed him off of both sides and be sure that he is eating every two hours, then in a month, if that doesn't work add the formula too. It is just funny, they said "normally" they gain 2lbs per month. Well, last month when he went from 8lbs 3oz to 9lbs 2oz. That wasn't 2 lbs and they said NOTHING. I don't know. Also, many websites say 1 pound a month for the first 4 months and another says 5oz a week which is like 1 & 1/4lbs. Who do you believe? And the poor guy got 3 shots, plus some new liquid stuff for roto virus. He is out of it. I feel so bad. Other than that, he's fine.

Poor guy, I hate it when Chey gets shots too.
I think what you are going to try every two hours and on both sides, should work. I think they are suggesting formula because it is paacked with calories.
What about maybe a little rice cereal mixed with breast milk before bedtime?? Or maybe pump and mix some rice cereal in with it that way??
Maybe I will try cereal. I know the Dr's are against it, but I'd rather do that then formula
