Our Vacation

Well July 27th we were off. We left around 5:30am. We drove down to the hotel that we had in Williamsburg, got there around oneish, and dropped the dogs off. Yes, we had to take the dogs because I had nobody to watch them. It was hard to find a place to take them, but I finally did. Anyway, after dropping the dogs off, we dressed and headed for Virginia Beach. It was very hot. Humidity terrible and about 98 degrees. The one neat thing in going to Virginia Beach is that they have a tunnel that goes under the water. I tried to get pictures of it. Then there is a military base there and there are fighter jets and aircraft carriers. That was pretty neat. Michael loved the ocean. Zac hated it. He is such a chicken, I don't know why. He is afraid of everything. He did play in the sand, but would not go near the water. I tried to take him in and he screamed and cried. When evening came, we left there, ate, and headed back to the hotel which was about 1 hour away.

Friday, we went to a water park called Water Country USA. The kids had a blast there. Zac wasn't afraid. The water park was as big as a regular amusement park. It was huge. They went in the water, down slides, down water slides, they just had a blast. VERY expensive place though. It is an Anheuser Busch park like Busch Gardens. Something should have gave us a clue when parking cost $10.00. Then I go to get pizza and fries and it was like $8.00. Then a bottle of pop was over $3.00. I just am not use to prices like that. I mean I know that parks are pricey, but that's a bit much.

Saturday, it was off to Busch Gardens. Their web site makes the park look better than it is. At least that is how we all felt. Don't get me wrong, it was nice, but we are a riding family and they don't have many rides. And the rides that they do have are spead out very far. There are different countries there: England, Ireland, Germany, France, and Italy. We had dinner in Italy and it was good, and not expensive. Michael got to go on a roller coaster called the big bad wolf, which is like the Iron Dragon at Cedar Point. It has cars that hangs underneath the track. He enjoyed it. It was really hot that day too. Well, the whole trip was actually. We are just not use to that heat here.

Sunday, we drove through Colonial Williamsburg. It didn't look like much, and I don't think that the kids would have enjoyed it much. Plus, it was too hot. It was like 103 degrees that day. It took us a long time to get home because of all the traffic. We learned, never travel on a Sunday. We stopped in Bedford to try to see Great Grandma's grave, but got lost for like 2 hours so we didn't make it. Total travel on the way home was like 10 hours for a 7 hour trip. The kids were WONDERFUL. I can not believe how well they did. So now we are back. Now for birthday parties and Michael will be starting school at the end of August. That should be interesting. We took too many pictures, and it takes too long to put them on here, so I made a montage on one true media. Hope everyone checks it out. There are a couple videos too.
